In the presence of this majestic cat, I felt weak and ugly. This cat was amazing. Old, yet seemed so young! Like Redd, she had marks along her back, white again, but they trailed down her tail and down her shoulders. Amazing!
"Elder, I have brought you the she-cat that you sensed, she has not got The Acceptance, so my guess is, she's 'new' or a spy from the Li'anshi." Redd announced. Menacing warriors crowded round us. Redd looked unfazed, but then again, they were after me. Like Darkpaw had, The Elder raised her ancient paw and they halted.
"Let her speak, she was brought to us during Full Moon, do you not realise? She will fulfil the prophesy, and defeat Shadow for good!" The cats all meowed in agreement.
Oh help.
"Child." She beckoned to me. "Come here. Give me your paw." Of course, I did. Using a thorn, she pricked my pad, and I saw a bead of blood rise. I shook it, as if I could shake the pain off. Gently, so as not to hurt me any further, she pressed my bleeding paw into another carved star, but once I did, to my amazement. The outline glowed bright blue! I yelped and pulled away.
"Shhh, my Child, Shhh." The Elder offered her paw and I rest mine on top, the red still dripping. She places my paw back on the star and she whispers a prayer. "Mighty Starr, grant this Child the Acceptance, and let her become the savior we've been wating for! Hummarah, vialato, leviousa knaroutum... Hummarah, vialato, leviousa knaroutum... Hummarah, vialato, leviousa knaroutum..." She whispered those four words over and over. Suddenly, everything flashed!... I saw the old lady again, on the road! I was seemingly right next to the bus... She's gone!
"Very funny, Sam!" A voice shouts. Me! Then, through the snow torrent, I see the old lady with me, then she chants those evil words, leaving me on the ground. The lady sighs and hobbles off.
"Starr, I hope I've made up for all I've done..." I'm so wrapped up in my story that I don't hear the aproach of another cat...
Yes, my Child, that is you...
I whipped round. There was a ghostly cat sitting, as casual as you like, next to me on the snow.
I see you have not been granted the Acceptance, or the speech of Cat...
Speech of Cat? I haven't spoken yet, if that's what he means. Wait a minute... I remember him! Before I fell to the floor in the snow! The grey cat! Starr!!!
Of course, who else would I be? Starr chuckles, reading my thoughts. How can he do that?
Being me has it's privelages... I remember Dumbledore saying that in The Half-Blood Prince, before him and Harry apparate, and it makes me feel homesick.
Makeeda, do not worry, you will return... And he fades away. Makeeda? What happened to Kat? Actually that's too ironic. I'd rather stick with Makeeda. Suddenly, my head swam and I dropped back into reality. I lifted my head, from where it was bowed and I heard everyone gasp.
"What?" I asked, surprising myself. So Starr was right. I had gained the speech of Cat. My voice sounded different, older, even. Answering my question, The Elder, as calm as Starr had been, gestures to a puddle nearby. I glance in... I see myself, a white, blue eyed cat, but I have a glorious black full moon on my forehead, along with the exotic patterns that are on Redd down my face and under my eyes. I gasp. But the breath catches in my throat. I stare over the horizon of the sea, the sun is rising. Great way to bring me back, Starr! I collapse, and then I feel my soul leave Makeeda...
Beeeeeep! Beeeeeeeeep! Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! I pick up my alarm clock and throw it at the wall where it shatters and breaks. I groan and rise out of bed. It's 9:00! I'm late for school!! I brush my hair with 2 strokes, 100 times less than usual and shoot off, no make-up or styling or anything. My nightmare. But I had a worse one last night. Freakish cats everywhere! At least it was all a dream, is all I can say. First and second period go past so fast (or maybe it was because I was asleep for most of it) and I trapse out into the playground, followed by my usual fans along with Sam, who, as per usual, was scowling. I stared into his green eyes and tried to find some warmth. But, I saw something else.... Redd? No, Redd was a part of my imagination. A dream. A fantasy. I really should stop worrying. He stared right back, and his eyes rested on my nose. His eyes grew wide, and he called to me. He dissapeared behind the Old Shed Where No One Ever Goes.
"Kat! Kat! Come here. I've got to tell you something..." I sighed and followed him.
"Yeah? What do you want?"
"Kat, your-your nose. Who did that to you?"
"What on my nose? Are you crazy?" Even though I thought he was bluffing, I pulled out a mirror and checked. Three raw red lines were there, as clear as day, acrossmy beautiful nose! Scared, I checked my finger. There was a pin prick scar. I gasped.
"I've got something to tell you. Tonight, you must come to Pearl Harbour. 8:00. LightClan have a special ritual set up for you as you were changed at Full Moon. That is a sacred time for all cats."
"What are you on about?"
" I shouldnt tell you but, you should know. Cats like you should be safe at night. The Li'anshi are after you. To kill you."
"What?... Wha... Why?... HUH?!"
"I'm....oh doesnt matter. See ya." He turned away. "Hummarah, vialato, leviousa, knaroutum. Redd accepts the Warriors Pledge..." He spinned back round, facing me. He's glowing! "You might want to go now..." But it's too late. There's a flash of blinding light. When I can see again, Jack has gone! All I do see is a red-brown cat running off in the distance. A cat with incredible patterns on his back. Jack is...Redd!?! No way! Where's he going? I decide I'm going to follow him.
"Um... Er... Hummarah, vialato, leviousa, knaroutum! Makeeda accepts the Warrior Pledge..." I see the glowing light again... I stare down. My hands are growning white and fluffy and my fingernails are growing. In a few seconds flat, I know that once again...
I'm Makeeda...
